Cooloola Coastcare
The Cooloola region in Queensland, Australia, is an incredibly biodiverse protected area on the doorstep of the state's most populated area, Southeast Queensland. is notable for having both the northernmost temperate forests and the southernmost tropical rainforests in Australia. These diverse ecosystems include subtropical sclerophyll forests, as well as rainforests with relict Gondwana flora.
Wolf Rock, is currently the only known gestation site for the east coast population of grey nurse sharks. Mature females stay here for 9–12 months before heading south to central and southern New South Wales waters to pup and rest for 1 to 3 years.
The beach at Inskip Point and the sand island off its point and the shores of Tin Can Inlet are critical high tide roosts for endangered and migratory shorebirds listed under a range of important agreements, including bilateral migratory bird agreements with Japan (JAMBA), China (CAMBA) and the Republic of Korea (ROKAMBA).
