‘Elders of the Forest’ - Cooloola's Biggest Trees Survey
Gympie Region is home to at least 10 of the biggest trees for their species in Australia.
The National Register of Big Trees Australia records Champion trees and is now based in the Gympie
Region.
By documenting more of the biggest trees in Cooloola, people will be inspired to visit the region to see the amazing natural environments.
Education programs about trees and their web of life will use the photos and videos of the large trees to inspire awe and understanding.
Finding and documenting the champion trees in Cooloola will improve the will to protect these elders of the forests.
