- Plant Name:Bossiae heterophylla
- Common Name: None Known
- Plant Family:FABACEAE(Pea Family)
The 35 species of this plant is endemic to Australia and 11 species are found in S.E.Qld. The Bossiae heterophylla is a small spreading shrub growing less than a metre high. Produces attractive yellow pea flowers with brownish-red colouration from spring to autumn. The stems are usually flattened when young, the leaves are arranged alternatively on the stem and vary in shape even on the one plant. Favours drier areas and is found growing in crevices on rocky ledges that are partially shaded by overhead shrubs and trees. The plant roots penetrate into small cracks, gaining a stable foothold in a supply of moist sand and leaf matter that has been deposited by either water seepage or water washing over the rocks during rain periods. Also forms nitrogen-fixing root nodes. An uncommon plant for the Tin Can Bay/Cooloola Cove area, has been observedgrowing at only a couple of sites and contained to very small patches.
