DAY 1: Rainbow Beach
A group of a dozen enthusiasts met at the Wilderness Trail (Mullens carpark) on the Rainbow Beach Rd. A colourful walk to the first waterhole and return, across woodlands, dry and wet heath and plenty of time for photos. Later in the afternoon, a walk across Carlo Sandblow, where great views can be had south to Double Is Pt, north to Fraser Is and west across the intriguing patterned fens to Tin Can Inlet.
DAY 2: Mullins Creek, Cooloola Cove; Tin Can Bay School & City Farm Nursery (TCB).
Meeting at Mullins picnic area at the end of Bayside Rd, participants enjoyed a walk along 'Mullins Wader' (a Cooloola Coastcare project) to take a look at the resident & migratory shorebirds, samphire and blooming sea purslane. After lunch the group went to Tin Can Bay School for a wallum walk, followed by a visit to Tin Can Bay Cit Farm Nursery. Following this billowing smoke filled the sky, so our timing couldn't have been better!
