Wow! what a team effort!
Royal Military College Duntroon trainees assisted Cooloola Residents and Friends Assoc yesterday in a massive water weed clean-up of invasive paragrass from Cooloola Cove billabongs. The fit young lieutenant officers-to-be took to the water in craft supplied by Tin Can Bay Coastguard, Tin Can Bay Yacht Club, Jilly's Gifts Tin Can Bay, and local residents.
Wearing light weight army issued life vests and gloves, the 12 troops manually pulled paragrass from the billabong floor, exposing the waterway after many years of being choked by this suffocating weed. Catch of the day were native inhabitants- freshwater 'lobbies' and EPBC listed Ornate Rainbowfish. Cooloola Coastcare sends out a huge thankyou to Chaplain David Jones and and the team and welcomes your ongoing support.
