Coast groups and army declare war on weeds!

posted Sep 10, 2012, 1:15 AM by Cooloola Coastcare Association Inc.
Tin Can Bay and Cooloola Cove are neighbours to the Wide Bay Military Reserve Training Facility. The towns play host to soldiers training before deployment overseas. We get to watch the soldiers carrying out their exercises up close, in the town, along the foreshore and creeks and at the local school. They camp at Norman Point, a most beautiful area looking out onto the Tin Can Inlet, a Ramsar Wetland of International siginificance, where the indo-pacific dolphins come in to greet humans, while migratory birds from as far a Alaska and Russia seek respite on our shores each Spring!
Not taking this exceptional locality for granted, the army team will join locals in DECLARING WAR ON WEEDS! on Wednesday 12th September from 1300 hours at the billabong, Marian Creek, Cooloola Cove (just down the hill from Woolies and the computer shop). If you can help out, come along with usual workbee attire, and we'll find a job for you.
It should be loads of fun, as we say bye-bye to loads of water weeds (paragrass)!
