"July 'S Spring."

The caption on our Display Board at the library certainly rang true this year, especially for the
yellow's of our wallum wildflowers. Watch now for the spectacular white flowering wedding bush.

Coastcare has been busy this winter with monthly planning meetings and work bees. Planting has
occurred at several sites along the fore-shore enhancing natural areas and drainage banks.

The final report for Stage 3 was submitted in July, thanks to Andrew. As we have a back log of
work we did not apply for Coastcare funding this year. Several ideas are in the pipeline for next year.

Ask for the Tin Can Bay Coastcare video at the Tin Can Bay and Gympie libraries.

Happy reading.

Coolum Wallum Wildflower Show

Again we attended this popular wildflower show held at the Coolum Civic Centre. Several thousand people
walked through the doors over the week-end of the 26th and 27th of August with plenty of interest being
shown in the Tin Can Bay wildflowers held on display. Sharing our stall this year was local artist, Maree
Prior. Her Wallum Paintings" proved very popular. Michael, one of our members, acted as a guide on two
of the wildflower bus tours.

The buses went to different locations on the Sunshine Coast including Emu Mountain, Marcoola
Wildflower Patch and Marcus High Dunes. The bus tours were always booked out.

We enjoyed listening to several guest speakers including Mike Olsen, a renowned Queensland botanist. He gave special mention to a recently completed “Assessment of Conservation Values of State Land Portions At Tin Can Bay" project.

A video has also been produced to showcase the natural beauty of Tin Can Bay and the activities of Tin Can Bay Coastcare. A copy of this very professional video has been placed in the library. A big THANK YOU to Larry Larstead for volunteering his expertise and many hours needed to develop these awareness raising tools
